Directions for writing a literary wiki response

Pick one of the following topics and use it to create a literary wiki response on your wiki page (only use a response topic twice):
1. List examples of foreshadowing you found in the passage and discuss how the foreshadowing assisted you in making predictions.
2. Think Metaphor: If this passage were a piece of clothing, what would it be and why? Other metaphor options: weather, color, animal, or food.
3. What are the characteristics that made this passage a good short story, essay, poem, or novel?
4. Write a 5 sentence summary of what you have read.
5. List 5 new vocabulary words that you learned while reading the passage. Discuss the connotation and diction of the words and how the author used the words in the text.
6. Pick a memorable quote from the book and write a paraphrase of the quote (put it in your own words), and explain why you picked that quote.
7. Epiphany Moment: Write about an "Ah-ha" moment in which you discovered something that the author was trying to convey that you had not noticed before.
8. Discuss the figurative language in the passage (i.e., metaphors, similes, personification, imagery) and how these elements contribute to the overall mood or tone of the passage.
9. Find an example in which you had to infer in the passage about what was happening in the story. Type out the sentences from the passage, and then explain your inference.
10. Write out the character traits of one of the characters and list examples from the passage that helped you make your list of character traits.
11. Discuss how the setting contributes to the tone, mood and theme of the passage.
12. Discuss how the conflict of the passage drives the story. (i.e., character vs nature, character vs character, character vs the forces of society, character vs. supernatural forces, character vs. self)
13. Discuss the so what? How does the story help you understand your own life and the world and why.
14. Explain the irony in the story (i.e., situational, verbal, dramatic), and how the passage is a good example of irony.
15. Describe a tone shift in the passage or poem. Point out examples of the shift and write an explanation of your examples.
